Die gegen „Die Neue Ordnung“ gerichtete „Erklärung“ der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Christliche Sozialethik findet innerhalb der „scientific community“ keinesfalls ungeteilte Zustimmung. Im Wissenschaftsportal „Academia“ fordert ein Beitrag die Urheber auf, den Boykottaufruf zurückzuziehen – um der Freiheit der wissenschaftlichen, durchaus streitbaren Debatte willen:

„The AG katholische Sozialethik which represents the senior researchers of catholic social ethics in German speaking countries has published an open attack against the editor of the renowned journal »Die Neue Ordnung« considering that this journal be removed from the libraries and suggesting that the editor (Pater Ockenfels) be reprimanded by his order. The index librorum prohibitorum comes up again…
Here is an appeal to the AG to take up again and to enjoy the risk of an open academic debate. If points of view proposed in »Die Neue Ordnung« are wrong, misleading, even ethically suspect, then demonstrate that by good research! The better view will be successful in a free debate without censorship!“
