Axel Bernd Kunze: Democracy Education in Teacher Training in Germany, in: Miriam Ben-Peretz, Sharon Feiman-Nemser (Eds.): Political Transformations and Teacher Education Programs, Lanham/Boulder/New York/London: Rowman and Littlefield 2018, pp. 1 – 16.
„The move from authoritarian to a more democratic ruling system expresses itself in chapter 1 […] by Axel Bernd Kunze. Kunze claims that ’students ought to experience Democracy in practice while they are in School in order to develop a habitual democratic disposition‘ (this volume, ch. 1). In order to achieve this Goal, schools should function as a democratic society. This approach calls for student teachers to participate actively in their own program. In the same spirit, Kunze quotes Behrmann, who wrote that ‚democracy needs to be lived, in order that it can be learned“ (1996, p. 121).“ (Introduction, p. ix)
